Shared Vision Planning and HydroBID Alloc in the Dominican Republic

A finales de agosto 2023 se llevó a cabo el primer taller de capacitación de HydroBID Alloc para el Grupo A, que agrupa a los coordinadores técnicos encargados de las actividades de elaboración de escenarios, en el taller se contó con la participación del Plan Sierra, del Instituto Nacional de Recursos Hidráulicos (INDRHI) y de la Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM). Durante los talleres los técnicos tuvieron la oportunidad de conocer las capacidades del HydroBID Alloc y realizar una aplicación en la subcuenca Río Guayubín. La capacitación se realizó en el marco de un proyecto piloto financiado por USAID y ejecutado por el Cuerpo de Ingenieros del Ejército de los Estados Unidos.

Dialogue for sustainable water resources management in Latin America and the Caribbean

In February 2023, the HydroBID Community of Practice Meeting (ECOP) was held. This is an annual meeting, where 140 decision-makers, technicians, scientists, and academics from 20 countries gathered in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and shared innovative ways to apply HydroBID in the water management, energy, and transportation sectors.

Argentina committed to achieving Water Security

In Argentina, water security has been at risk in recent years due to extreme weather events such as droughts and floods. Argentina is among the 14 countries most affected by flood disasters globally. Estimates indicate that the country will experience an increase in extreme precipitation in the north and lower rainfall levels in the south. Similar challenges can be found in the water resource demand for agricultural activities and water quality.

Bolivia improves water management with the support of HydroBID

Between 2019 and 2020, the HydroBID Support Center (CeSH) and the Ministry of Environment and Water of Bolivia (MMAyA) published nine technical reports after training Bolivian technicians and academics in the use of HydroBID. These reports demonstrated the model's capacity for conducting useful simulations for the decision-making process of water resource management in La Chiquitanía region, La Paz and Katari rivers, among others.
