Argentina committed to achieving Water Security

In Argentina, water security has been at risk in recent years due to extreme weather events such as droughts and floods. Argentina is among the 14 countries most affected by flood disasters globally. Estimates indicate that the country will experience an increase in extreme precipitation in the north and lower rainfall levels in the south. Similar challenges can be found in the water resource demand for agricultural activities and water quality. Currently, the Inter-American Development Bank has US $2.2 billion in non-refundable loan operations in Argentina, many of which are based on the knowledge generated by the HydroBID model. Projects aimed to improve watershed management and flood control are the focus of HydroBID’s impact. In addition to aligning with the government's strategy, HydroBID is contributing to the implementation of integrated water management projects in Argentina.
